Previously in the Daily Star: Unpopular American Perez Hilton is predicted to win Celebrity Big Brother. Housemates believe he has a guaranteed place in the final because producers believe his attention-seeking antics are TV gold.
But within 24 hours, Hilton is up for eviction - and in danger of police questioning over an alleged sex assault on rival contestant Katie Hopkins. Now read on...
Hilton was indeed evicted and Katie Price duly declared the winner over the weekend. (The Star calls her Kate, presumably to differentiate from Katie Hopkins, although nobody seems to have told the Sunday team.)
Lo and behold, Ms Hopkins promptly cried foul. "It was a fix! It should have been me."
Hurrah! cries the Star - another "fix" splash.
Milking the show to the very last drop, yesterday's paper ran a follow-up reporting that viewers were clamouring for an Ofcom investigation, a claim backed up by a collection of pseudonymous quotes, but no evidence that anyone had done anything more concrete than rant and fling random accusations.
Ofcom - which has apparently received 3,000 complaints about the show this series - naturally replies: “All the complaints for Celebrity Big Brother are under assessment. If any complaints are made that a viewer thinks the show is fixed, they will be assessed and then we will decide whether to investigate.”
So that's clear then.
And as the curtains close on the CBB house for the spring, the Star can get back to that other menace that requiring its scrutiny.
