There's a straight split between the papers today on what makes the best front-page picture subject: the Baftas or the Cowells.
The Express plays safe with Dame Helen, the Telegraph rekindles its affection for best actress Cate Blanchett, while the Guardian goes for best actor Chiwetel Ejiofor. The Independent and the Times are both captivated by Lupita Nyong'o, beautiful in unfussy green satin.
Which raises an interesting point. If you are using an awards ceremony as your front-page picture, do you go for the most attractive photograph or a winner? Nyong'o didn't win for her performance in Twelve Years a Slave. Would we expect to see a picture of the runner-up in a sporting event? Just wondering aloud really.
On the other side of the street, Simon and Eric Cowell snuggled up together is a pretty extraordinary picture. The Sun and Star are virtually twins, pairing the photograph with one of Branjelina in matching tuxedos at the Baftas, although the Sun has the better heading.
